Stem Cell Therapy Background
Regenerative medicine utilizes the bodys own stem cells in order to stimulate healing and repair of damaged tissues and organs. According to the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB), which advances transfusion and cellular therapies worldwide, current estimates indicate that approximately 1 in 3 Americans may benefit from regenerative medicine. One of the most promising new fields of science and medicine due to their use in regenerative medicine is stem cell therapy. Stem Cell Therapy has shown amazing promise because it holds a significant promise for transformative and potentially curative treatments for various troubling conditions. Stem cell therapy is a tissue repair strategy prospect, which is reinforced by the scientific communities exploring its applications across a wide range of diseases and conditions, such as:
All tissue repair in the body is initiated by stem cells. Hence, pain or loss of function within the body is related to either not having enough stem cells to produce healing or stem cells that are not functioning optimally.
Typically, stem cells are taken from bone marrow or adipose (fat) tissue, or from umbilical cord or amniotic tissue. They are then transplanted to areas of the body, where they are found to be in short supply. Stem cells work through a system called the Universal Stem Cell Niche (USCN). This is where all healing and repair occur within the human body.
Healing occurs by utilizing mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and progenitor cells, which aid in vascular repair. MSCs are the conductors of the bodys healing system through signaling molecules. Signaling molecules are natural drug-like compounds that stimulate tissue healing. Whenever there is damage in the body, the MSCs survey the area of damage, collect data, and communicate with other cells in the area. MSCs respond by releasing a variety of drug-like molecules that initiate tissue healing and repair. If you take MSCs and inject them into a damaged or injured knee, they will produce very different drug-like molecules than if you take the same MSCs and transplant them into an inflamed lung or damaged liver. Thats because MSCs are stem cells that are data-driven from local information, intelligently responsive to the information, and have injury-specific drug stores. According to Dr. Harry Adelson, N.D., Orthopedic Stem Cell Expert, Anytime you have healing after an injury, its a stem cell mediated event. Besides MSCs, the USCN also relies on progenitor cells, which are found within every organ of the body that create cells unique to that organ. MSCs assess the area of damage and then send signaling molecules to the progenitor cells. Unfortunately, age decreases the number of progenitor cells and through wear and tear they may become weak and dysfunctional; however, progenitor cells may awaken and re-energize through stem cell therapy.
Stem cell therapy shows promising outcomes in creating new cartilage, new bone, and new ligaments that lead to the growth and repair in aging painful joints. However, they are also great prospects in alleviating excess inflammation, immune system problems, and/or wear and tear within the body. Dr. Neil Riordan, Ph.D., a leading stem cell researcher, conducts clinical trials on various conditions with stem cell therapy, which show the promising benefits for the various aforementioned conditions. His research has proven the angiogenic propertiesthe formation of new blood vesselsfound within MSCs, which live along the capillaries and aid new blood vessel stimulation and formation. The vascular repair of tissues is initiated by the capillaries, red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets, which carry all the healing elements to the body and to the damaged tissue. Overall, the more blood flow you have, the more stem cells, the better the healing, the better the health.
Unfortunately, no drug company or surgical device company will explain the amazing benefits of stem cell therapy, because it disrupts their industry and eats into their market share profits. At Colorado Medical Solutions, we believe in harnessing the regenerative powers of our own bodys healing system through advanced stem cell technologies, but also through better nutrition, lifestyle choices, and stress management. In the words of Norman Cousins, former journalist, author, professor, and humanitarian, The doctor has a role beyond the prescription pad to invoke the patients own bodily resources for healing.

TESTIMONIALS
The Federal Drug and Administration (FDA), an agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, protects the public health by assuring the safety, effectiveness, and security of human and veterinary drugs, vaccines and other biological products for human use, and medical devices. According to the FDA website,
In addition, the FDA will continue to work closely with [the regenerative medicine] industry to find other ways to aid in the effort to bring novel therapies to patients as quickly, and as safely, as possible. One of these will include our continued commitment to fully implement the Regenerative Medicine Advanced Therapy (RMAT) designation. This pathway enables regenerative cell therapies to access the FDAs existing expedited programs to help foster the development and approval of these novel products. Among other things, we plan to include certain gene therapy products that permanently alter tissue and produce a sustained therapeutic benefit as part of the products that will meet the definition of being eligible to come under the pathway enabled by RMAT. This is part of our broader commitment to pursue efforts that will advance innovation in this space. We encourage sponsors who are seeking FDA approval of their product to consider this pathway.
Ultimately, the agencys goal is to make sure that the potential of regenerative medicine continues advancing to benefit patients, who need new and innovative options for their medical problems. More information regarding RMAT designation may be found by clicking the following link: Regenerative Medicine Advanced Therapy (RMAT) Designation
